"Even in the tender places that trauma has touched, gently inviting warmth and self-kindness into your body can create quiet openings for comfort and a sense of inner peace to emerge."

Good Trauma Therapy on the Gold Coast QLD

Kyle Shores Trauma Therapist Somatic Hypnotherapist

I welcome individuals from all walks of life who have been impacted by trauma. This includes those who have experienced vicarious trauma within the mental health system, adults who endured childhood abuse, and anyone who identifies as a trauma victim, survivor, or thriver. I have a particular focus on supporting those with epigenetic based trauma or pre-verbal sexual abuse experiences.

Welcome Home

I understand that finding the right support when you've experienced trauma or complex- PTSD can feel overwhelming. Perhaps you've been told that healing isn't fully possible, or that you'll need therapy indefinitely.

If you've ever felt a sense of hopelessness or heard words that diminished your capacity to heal, please know that your feelings are valid, and there is indeed hope.

As a trauma specialist on the Gold Coast, my approach is built on compassion, collaboration, and building the hurt persons innate strength. I believe that all people are the expert of their own experiences, and my role as a trauma therapist is to walk alongside you as a team.

This bottom-up approach recognises the powerful connection between your physical sensations and your emotional well-being, allowing for profound and lasting change.

I work with my clients  at a pace that feels secure and manageable for them. I hold a deep belief in the human body's remarkable ability as a prediction machine and healing machine.

You are not alone in this journey. Your experiences are valid, and you are so much more than any label.
It would be an honour to connect with you and explore how we can work together towards your healing and well-being here on the Gold Coast.

Body-Centered Trauma Therapy for Deeper Healing

How I help people discover a parth to healing from trauma

The four stages:

Building a Foundation of Trust and Skills

Our initial focus will be on creating a safe and trusting space where you feel comfortable and understood. This involves getting to know each other at your own pace. We'll also begin to explore and build foundational skills that will be incredibly valuable throughout your healing process, preparing you for deeper trauma processing when you're ready.

Gently Strengthening Your Nervous System

We can work on building resilience within your nervous system, helping it to feel safer and more regulated. One gentle yet powerful approach we can use is Somatic Hypnotherapy. This technique can help reset your vagus nerve, which plays a key role in your body's stress response. By working with your body's sensations, Somatic Hypnotherapy can help to shift uncomfortable physical feelings associated with trauma, like tightness or heaviness, in a warmer and swifter way. This can also enhance the effectiveness of other powerful tools like Havening Techniques, which are renowned for processing trauma. The goal is to help you release trauma from your body and "felt sense" without needing to dissociate or further disconnect from your experiences.

Powerful Tools for Deeper Healing

For some traumatic experiences, more targeted approaches can be incredibly effective. We can explore powerful tools such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Brainspotting, and Havening Techniques. These methods are designed to help you process and integrate challenging memories and experiences, allowing you to come to terms with them in a profound way.

Embracing Wholeness: Secondary Gains and Integration

As you heal, you may experience what we call "secondary gains." This refers to the process of letting go of the identity of being a "victim" and releasing old patterns or behaviors that, at one point, might have felt protective, even if they were ultimately unhelpful. For example, you might notice changes in how you approach looking for work or forming new relationships.

Navigating this shift is a crucial part of your journey towards integration. As a therapist, I'll collaborate closely with you through this process, helping you to embrace these changes. Integration means becoming more whole and comfortable with all aspects of who you are, including your quirks. It's about developing all the resources you need to confidently face future uncertainties, knowing you have the capacity to handle whatever arises.

Would you like to explore any of these areas in more detail, or do you have any questions about how this approach might feel for you?

What People Say

I turned to Kyle during a particularly overwhelming time in my life, struggling to manage the demands of work and family after becoming a father again. Working 80–100 hours per week left me emotionally drained, mentally exhausted, and feeling disconnected from myself. Seeking a solution, I explored hypnotherapy with Kyle, and it proved to be a transformative experience.

Kyle’s deep expertise in hypnotherapy allowed him to quickly assess my situation and guide me toward meaningful change. His professional and empathetic approach helped me release mental and emotional blocks, regain clarity, and develop strategies to restore balance in my life. Through his tailored sessions, I reconnected with my true self, gaining a renewed sense of confidence, focus, and well-being.

I highly recommend Kyle to anyone looking for an effective, alternative approach to overcoming life’s challenges. His hypnotherapy sessions have been instrumental in helping me become a better business owner, husband, and father to my five sons.
